the Opening Night Reception is Friday, May 20, 7-10 pm, and the show runs May 20th through July 8th 2005. I have two pieces in this show, maybe three. My Aloe Vera from the previous post is in the show, to which I've added a black frame with white "dots" (they point out kind of like chocolate chips) that echo the dots in the painting.

When I was a little girl I would draw variations of the same picture over and over and over again. There would be a tree on the left hand side, rolling hills in the background with a river or stream coming forward. The sun in the right corner, with rays extending out to a couple of clouds, from which a rainbow would arc, and raindrops (three) would be falling. There would be flowers and mushrooms in the foreground and as many animals as I could squeeze in, a mouse, a squirrel, a skunk, a rabbit, and some birds in the sky. So it seemed appropriate to do such a painting for the Landscapes show. Since this scenario is my paradigm for nature, I imagine I'm not the only little girl who drew such pictures, I called the piece Archetype.

The maybe piece is called Interior/Exterior. It's two sided, bolted together, and fairly self-explanatory. Believe it or not, the sun/moon imagery was completely accidental. I have it pictured a little backwards, the blue side is the interior part, and is prior to the orange side which is exterior. It's a maybe because I've completely missed the set up deadline, and with the two sides, it requires special consideration for hanging. So we'll see.
I've been so busy no time to do art... but I did take an oil painting class in which I produced this fine puffin having his supper!

And not too long ago I overlaid an old pastel of an Aloe Vera plant with acrylics.

So there's been a little progress... and I'm getting some new pieces ready for the Art House and HRG, so will be posting those soon.
